The Kanepackage Group of Companies continued its mangrove planting. This time the planting was held on Banacon Island, a 35-minute boat ride from the mainland. The island is under the municipality of Getafe, Bohol. Thirty-five (35) attendees participated in the said planting activity. Represented from Kanepackage affiliates, three from KP Japan, four from Sanko, two from Koshin, five from KPPI- Laguna, two from KPPI-Lima, one from KPPI-Cebu, three from KP Vietnam, two from Superflex, two from KP Indonesia, two from KP Thailand and six from KPGroup Phils. During the activity, two representatives from KGS Philippines and one guest from Couzou also joined. A total of 6,000 mangrove propagules of Rhizophora sp. were planted. The members of the people’s organization of Banacon Fisherfolk Mangrove Planters Association (BAFMAPA) assisted during the mangrove planting.

his is the first company mangrove planting after the Covid-19 pandemic craze happened. Previously, the mangrove planting took place in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental last November 2019.

The following day participants visited the famous Tarsier Sanctuary in Canapnapan, Corella, where guests got the chance to get up close and witness the delicate and emotionally-sensitive creatures. After the 30-minute experience and taking photo moments with the tarsiers, guests traveled 1 hour and 20 minutes going to the well-known Chocolate Hills located in the town of Carmen, Bohol. This renowned Natural Geological Monument is one of the top tourist destinations in the province of Bohol.

After the breathtaking experience at the Chocolate Hills, guests journeyed another hour to catch up for lunch in the Loboc Floating Restaurant. Guests were serenaded throughout the cruise. They were served with some of the famous Filipino dishes. The local folks greeted guests and tourists with a “Tinikling Dance’ as part of the trip.

The mangrove planting and tour activities are a bi-annual event of the company, which aims to provide support to our environment.
