Banacon Island, November 25, 2017. The Kanepackage Group of Companies represented with its affiliates once again showed its support in helping the coastal environment by planting mangroves as its way of giving back to the environment. With customer from Japan and KGS Philippines Corporation this year, the group traveled about 25 minutes from Getafe port going to the planting site. A total of 500 pieces of Rhizophora species mangrove propagules were planted together with the locals of Banacon. Kanepackage Group of Companies has been doing this type environmental rehabilitation projects by planting mangroves for more than 9 years. With its growing participants every year and continuous collaborative effort with the Philippines national government, Kanepackage is serious in helping combat against the unforeseen effects of climate change.

The participants also took time to relax and grabbed the chance to visit some of the famous tourist spots in Bohol. While having a sumptuous buffet meal at the Loboc River Floating Restaurant, they enjoyed the view of riverbanks and waterfalls. Some participants took chance to dance with locals as way of welcoming local and foreign visitors. Their next stop was the Tarsier Sanctuary. Participants were given the opportunity and took closer look with the tarsiers, locally named as “mamag”, “mago”, or “magao”. Tarsier are nocturnal species, active during night time and resting at day time. That’s why most of the pictures taken they were asleep.

Bohol trip would not be completed without stopping by and witness the breathtaking views of Chocolate Hills at Carmen, Bohol. It’s a 52-kilometer stretch away from Tagbilaran City. It is famous for its uniformly shapes (about 30-50 meters high) and natural landscapes of mountains. It’s been described as chocolatey-hills, because it does when it is at the end of dry season (month of May).

This mangrove planting and tour activities is an annual event of the company, whose aims to promote unity and camaraderie in helping save our planet, Mother Earth.
